Hey folks, silly daft idea time

One thing thats always struck me about roleplaying with DS, your almost guarenteed to be in some of the most spectacular setpeices you can imagine. Since the storyteller props have come out, ive been constantly amazed by the level of creativity of our set building members, especially when Dark Eden is fully decked out, or when se-hun very creativley surrounded Fort Tarkin with an impenetrable wall made from mustafarian venting systems, or akres fine hutt smuggler camps, with nicely timed bombing run and fire fx, to jorriks small but superb imperial forward base in the swamps of Talus at our last rp, not to mention Uriko's fine talent at deploying half the imperial starfleet in DE every now and then , bottom line, its all been of consistantly high quality, and i think its time to realise the potential of our setbuilding talent within the guild.

To that end, im hoping to put together a Special fx team, dedicated to the setup and execution of various setpeices for roleplay across the galaxy. Im seeking interested and talented set builders, and those who have the imagination and smarts to adapt any and all available props and fx to suit any given story or roleplay scenario. As a DS-FX member (our version of ILM ), you could be called upon at short notice to construct a setpeice several hours before an RP event, in literally any location across the galaxy, according to the desires of the person organising the scenario.

The recent rp against the Remnant Seperatists was orchestrated with only 4 people (myself, Jorrik, Kurbei, and se-Hun), and it was all created as we went along (see the image archive for screenshots). The result was a spectacular set covering an entire swamp area in south east Talus, consisting of over 600 various Battledroids, CIS landers, Fog which conceled and covered almost the entire swamp, & Destroyed ship fx, an Operations Base, a Forward Observation Post, random creepy Ackleys thrown in to add to the atmosphere. Overall, this set was able to provide an unusual, atmospheric, and almost horror film setpeice for the mighty 212th and others whom attended to seek out and destroy a crashed CIS Remnant cruiser, and its retreival party. In fact the setpeice was so large, it genuinley became an intense search for the downed cruiser, nobody could find it or remember where it was, lol, and every foot of that swamp was hard fought over by the ground forces.

Those that lasted the several hours of the event right through to its conclusion met the real villan of the story at the crash site, seems Akre survived his apparent execution under a burning sandcrawler by the 212th, and has obvious involvment with the remnant, more to come as we flesh out the story.

Anyways, back to the point, all this was done with 4 peeps, and planned as it went along, imagine what we could do with a dedicated set construction team, and an fx team who can fire off the proceedural special fx during live roleplay timed with events as they happen.

As ever, although DS maybe doesnt rp as much as it should, when it does, it blows everyone else out of the water with its quality and foresight, lets capitalise on our skills and ensure that we remain at the forefront of rp set design, and execution, volunteers will of course be fully versed in the use of props, fx, and npc setup, we'll have a nominated set director position which will change about depending on the wishes of the rp'er desiring the set. also you may be asked just to be there to key off special fx at an event when prompted, done correctly, this can double the immersion in any rp.

Hope you all like the idea, looking forward to getting interested folks together (but not too many working on any one project that DS is hosting, otherwise their is no surprises for the RP itself). To that end, id say a maximum of 5 or 6 players setbuilding for any rp that DS is hosting. If were doing it for any other guild, we can take along as many as we need, though we may request a fee from another guild, or individual to help cover the cost of our props.

Anyhoo, let me know your thoughts / flames here.
